Origami Hopping Bunny

Top Tip

You can make this jumping bunny with either card or paper. Paper will be easier to fold, but card will make a stronger bunny.

  1. Take a sheet of light pink paper/card and trim about an inch off of the long edge in a straight line to make the paper slightly narrower.
  2. Fold the top corner down in a diagonal line until the edge meets the edge of the paper. Crease the fold and then undo it and repeat with the other top corner to create a cross with the fold lines.
  3. Fold the top edge down so that the fold line goes across the centre point of the cross. Then unfold it and turn the paper over.
  4. Push the centre of the cross down and pull in the corners that naturally turn inwards. Then press the paper down and crease along the folds to create a triangle at the top of the paper.
  5. Fold the two points at the bottom of the triangle upwards so that they meet the point at the top of the paper.
  6. Fold the two edges of the bottom section of the paper, underneath the triangle, inwards to meet the centre line. Then fold the bottom edge upwards, folding the whole of the paper in half, then fold it down again to create a 'Z' shape.
  7. Cut out two bunny ear shapes from the same shade of paper/card and use a pink deco pen to draw the inner section of the ears. Fold a tab at the bottom of each ear and stick them to the top of the origami bunny using tape or glue.
  8. Stick two wiggle eyes to the bunny in front of the ears, and use a pink deco pen to draw the bunny's nose on the point. Then stick a white pom pom to the back of the bunny to create the tail.
  9. To make your bunny jump, press down on the back edge of the bunny and then release.
